While you can change the AirDrop name from the About settings, there is no direct way to change the profile picture. The only possible way to change your AirDrop profile picture is by changing your Apple ID profile picture. Follow the steps below to change the AirDrop profile picture by changing the Apple ID picture on your iPhone or iPad.
1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
2. Click on your Apple ID name on the Settings app.
- If you don’t see a name, click Sign in to your <device> and log in to your Apple ID using the correct credentials.
3. Now, click on your profile picture to change it.
4. Now, select an image, memoji, or emoji you want to have as your Apple ID profile picture.
5. Adjust the image as per your liking and click Choose.
6. Click Done to change your Apple ID profile picture.
Now, try using AirDrop to check if the change is reflected.
How to Change AirDrop Profile Picture on Mac
The steps to change the Apple ID picture might change based on the macOS version of your Mac. Here is how to change the Apple ID picture on Macs running on different macOS.
macOS Ventura 13 or later
1. Switch On your Mac and click on the Apple menu.
2. Select System Settings and then click on your Apple ID name on the sidebar.
- If you don’t see a name, click Sign In and log in to your Apple ID using the correct credentials.
3. Click on your Apple ID profile picture.
4. Select any picture, memoji, or emoji and adjust the image as per your liking.
5. Click Save to change your Apple ID picture.
Once you change your Apple ID picture, it will be reflected on your AirDrop screen picture as well.
macOS Monterey 12 or earlier
1. Switch On your Mac and click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner.
2. Select System Preferences and click on your Apple ID name.
- Sign In to your Apple ID if you don’t see your Apple ID name.
3. Click the profile picture above your Apple ID on the sidebar.
4. Select any picture and adjust the zoom of the picture as per your liking.
5. Click Save to change your Apple ID picture.
Now, use AirDrop on your Mac to check if the picture is reflected.

You can change the profile picture of your AirDrop by changing the Apple ID profile picture.
On your iPhone, go to Settings, select your name, and click on the profile picture. Click on the X icon on the top-right of the circle to remove your Apple ID photo. Doing this will also remove your picture from AirDrop.
If you have not saved the contact with their picture, you will not see the AirDrop picture while sending or receiving files.
